 ACTION LEARNING SETS for ‘Comrades in Adversity’

8 PLACES

An ACTION LEARNING SET is a powerful method to problem solve and learn from each other in a group setting.

The ‘set’ meets regularly and through a guided process the conditions for deeper insight and understanding are created.

Each session 1-2 people can present their challenge and through sensitive questioning gain new perspectives on their issue, as well as being acknowledged in their experience of the challenge. The saying goes ‘A problem shared is a problem halved’, an Action Learning Set of 8 people chops the problem into small chunks and makes it manageable. Everybody learns from each other every time.
All content in the meetings is confidential, and is not discussed outside of the meetings, and ground rules are set around that in the first session.

It is such an empowering way to challenge yourself and your thinking in a supportive setting, which creates the best environment for learning. It is such a brilliant tool for when you’re feeling stuck and alone with your problem.

I use my coaching skills to set the culture of the ALS and often use coaching questions to frame and end a session.

Encouraging wellbeing, confidence and better conversations in the creative community is my mission.

WHO IS IT FOR?:

‘Comrades in adversity’ is what the discoverer of Action Learning Reg Revans called a set.

ALS are useful for anyone, but for this set we’re focusing on professionals in the creative industries, who are open to sharing their challenges and happy to help other colleagues do the same. The challenges should focus on the professional environment rather than the personal.

FORMAT:

Each session is 2 hours per month.

All  sessions are online, on ZOOM – link will be provided.

 

 

 

 

  • I am an experienced Action Learning Sets facilitator and add coaching reflection to create a culture of curiosity and fun.
  • ALS are a key tool for Leadership development, which is why we have it as part of our TOOLBOX programme 
  • ALS is brilliant for team working and creating a space where learning from mistakes can happen, in a supportive and equal way.
  • A set consists of 5-8 people who meet regularly to explore challenges in a supportive environment.
  • Action Learning sets can take place on zoom, or in person.
  • Once the group is confident in the process, they can self-facilitate.
